 ORGANISATIONS - YOUTH COMMITTEE

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.    I Timothy 4:12

The CSI Youth Fellowship, Dubai was formed with the vision to bring youths – young adults to a relationship with Jesus. Our meetings are scheduled on every second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 8pm to 9.30pm.  We come together for the time of prayer, praise and to discuss and study the Scriptures under the leadership of our Achen. Members of our parish of the age group between 15 – 42 are welcome to come and be a part of the fellowship.

Mission

  • to introduce the youths to Jesus, towards a personal relationship in their lives
  • to encourage the lives of those who acknowledge Him
  • exhorting the youth to be more like Jesus everyday
  • challenging the youth to set an example through their lives in line with the Word of God
  • equipping the young crowd towards working for the Lord in various capacities
  • witnessing

Apart from our regular youth meetings, the Youth Fellowship organises a blood donation drive twice a year. The goal of which is to support a doctor who is working for our mission field in Andhra Pradesh.

The Youth Fellowship is also actively involved in organizing regular Church services held twice a month in Jebel Ali. Our heart behind it is to reach the Gospel and give fellowship to our brothers living in camps there, who cannot afford to come to regular church services in the city.

This year onwards, the Youth Fellowship will be introducing a ‘Seed Basket’ to help collect money for various projects that will extended to the people in need.

As part of our Youth Fellowship, we have been blessed by the Lord to work together with other organizations of our Church. This includes active involvement of our youth in the children’s ministry; where we are helping hands in arranging programmes like the VBS and the Summer Sunday School (conducted during the school vacation months). A retreat for the teenagers is also conducted each year. Because of the Lord’s Grace alone, through the last couple of years we have been able to encourage the 10th and 12th standard students with prayer support and by visiting their homes before the exams as well.

To God alone be all the Glory.

YOUTH IN ACTION (YIA)

A New Year…a year full of hopes, dreams, and prayers..What does the New Year mean to each of us? A year where we wish to make a change somewhere in our lives? Something to amend within us? A new direction in life, perhaps? Was Christmas just another occasion for us, at YIA?

The month of December was a month of retrospection for us, the Youth. The year may have been ending, but we were gearing ourselves up for an even better year of growing with the Lord.

In our last updates, we were not able to share with you about the wonderful time we had at Armeggeddon – the Teen Treat held on 28th November 2009. It was a blessed experience for the 40 odd teens who attended. Beginning with the Praise session, we wanted the teens to move out of their stiff zones..and get to know each other. Thus, we decided to start bombing cities! Wide awake, the teens were ready to spend some time learning and meditating on preparing for the battle for the Lord, under the guidance of Mr. Christo. Christo uncle gave us powerful insights on the battle and how to be prepared including what should be done, to ensure that we are well equipped, too. Through videos and group discussions, he guided the teens to learn from the Word and to bring out their thoughts on the different elements of the armour for battle. Post lunch, the teens were involved in a creative teambuilding of building a fort and to draw conclusions based on the physical security and strength of a fort, and the spiritual strength derived from the love of God that surrounds us. The day ended with the sharing of God’s wonderous powers in the lives of Sanuja and Joy Paul.

For us, it meant a worthwhile investment of time, in the lives of the growing soldiers of Christ.

What plans for the New Year? Aha!! The wheels just keep turning! God willing, we hope to have our Praise and Worship evening in the month of January. And yes, also in the pipeline is our corners for the Harvest Festival, the VBS and more…….

The doors are still open for invitations to our very own music band, as mentioned in our previous news letter.

And we definitely look forward to meeting new faces at our YF meetings held every 2nd and 4th Saturday at 8 p.m.

So while, we the Youth prepare ourselves for growing even more closer to the Lord, this year…lets start with the thought “You carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself 'Christian.'”

Read on….to see the impact of every single act that we do….

Several years ago, a preacher accepted a call to a church in Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'You'd better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it.' Then he thought, 'Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from God' and keep quiet.'

When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, 'Here, you gave me too much change.'

The driver, with a smile, replied, 'Aren't you the new preacher in town?'

 'Yes' he replied.

'Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I'll see you at church on Sunday.'

When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, 'Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter.'

You carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself 'Christian.'

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Wishing you all a Blessed New Year!
