Sunday School Anniversary 2023

Sunday School Anniversary 2023

The Sunday School Anniversary was held at the Holy Trinity Church on Saturday 7th January, 2023 with great enthusiasm from the Sunday School students and teachers.

The event started with the opening prayer by Rev. Shaji Jacob Thomas, our Vicar.  Mrs. Jolly Viju gave the Welcome Address and Mr. Sachin Saji Mathew presented the Sunday School Annual Report.

In his Presidential Address, Rev. Shaji Jacob Thomas spoke about the purpose of God in our lives. With reference to Matthew 6:26-27, "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?", Achen told the Sunday school students how and why God puts us in charge of various roles in the best way only he could think of. Rather than worrying about our challenges, we should surrender to His divine will. To illustrate his point, he narrated the story of "The Ant and the Contact Lens". A young woman named Brenda joined her friends to go rock climbing. While they had climbed halfway, Brenda's contact lens was knocked off by the safety rope, by accident. Being nervous and having a blurry vision, Brenda kept praying to God for help. Someone later found an ant climbing up the hill carrying Brenda's contact lens on it's tiny head. Later, Brenda's father, drew a cartoon picture of the ant with the caption, "Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You." This story reminds us that some loads are heavy and difficult to carry and doesn't make sense at the moment, but carrying it in obedience to God's will, will definitely unravel what God had intended it for, at the right time. Students from various grades showcased their talents and glorified God with singing, dancing and enacting skits. Prizes were distributed to students for the annual exams and sunday school attendance.

Mr. Mathew Jacob gave the Vote of Thanks. The evening ended with closing prayer by Mrs. Sheila John.

Towards the end, the gathering was entertained by the entry of Santa Claus who distributed gifts to all.

It is indeed a blessing to see the sunday school students and teachers gather physically for the anniversary, after a gap of 2 years while the sunday school was held online due to the Covid pandemic.
